Empowering Change Through Small, Consistent Actions

AP encourages employees to help protect resources through a plastic bottle cap sorting initiative to ensure they can be reused in meaningful ways.
Throughout the past year, AP Thailand has continued its bottle cap separation program within the organization, inviting employees to sort plastic caps both at home and at the office. The collected caps were then donated to Precious Plastic Bangkok, where they were recycled into materials for DIY activities—such as making keychains from recycled plastic caps. The initiative was designed to help employees learn through hands-on experience: from sorting cap colors and seeing the actual amount of plastic waste generated, to understanding the recycling process and witnessing how discarded materials can be transformed into functional new products.
The AP x Precious Plastic Bangkok project was created to strengthen employee participation in sustainable waste management, especially in plastic sorting and returning discarded materials into proper recycling and upcycling processes. The program reinforces the idea of using resources efficiently, reducing plastic waste, and supporting the organization’s transition toward a circular economy.
Thanks to this collective effort, AP was able to gather 85 kilograms of plastic bottle caps over the past year—equivalent to a reduction of 87.64 kg CO₂ eq, or the amount of CO₂ absorbed by 10 trees in one year. This number reflects the power of small, consistent actions that prevent valuable resources from being discarded without purpose.
In addition, plastic bottles left in the office after consumption are given to housekeeping staff, who can sell them as an extra source of income—adding value to waste separation at every step. This practice aligns with AP’s Living Quality philosophy, which believes that quality of life begins with taking care of the world around us together, every day.
Under this approach, the project hopes employees will see that even something as small and seemingly insignificant as a bottle cap can be transformed into something useful and meaningful again—while reducing the environmental impact of single-use plastics. The activity also helps nurture a sustainability mindset and foster a workplace culture that values responsible resource management.
