Challenges and Opportunities

The real estate industry faces challenges with substandard labor practices, rights violations, and health and safety risks, particularly in the construction sector which employs large numbers of workers. Without strict monitoring systems, this could affect the company’s credibility and create legal and reputational risks. However, ESG trends and international labor standards such as ILO and UNGPs are leading to greater recognition for companies that operate according to human rights principles. AP Thailand can leverage this opportunity to elevate transparent and safe labor practices through supply chain monitoring systems, grievance mechanisms, and labor protection measures. These not only help reduce risks but also build confidence among investors, employees, and consumers, strengthen business advantages, and support sustainable growth.

Management Approach and Value Creation

AP Thailand is committed to conducting business that respects human rights and treats labor fairly, in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), The International Labor Organization Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (ILO), UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP), as well as respecting and adhering to international principles on children's rights. The company promotes decent employment, equal rights, participation, and workplace safety throughout the entire value chain.

The company operates according to comprehensive Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) principles covering key activities from project development, construction, sales, and after-sales service, including due diligence on business partners and contractors to identify risks and prevent potential human rights impacts.

Labor Practices and Human Rights

AP Thailand is committed to conducting business based on social responsibility principles and respecting the human dignity of everyone involved in the organizational value chain. The company operates under international human rights principles, reinforcing the stance against child labor, forced labor, and all forms of discrimination.

The company has systematically developed strategies and management systems for labor and human rights by integrating Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) approaches into all business unit operations to assess risks and potential impacts on stakeholders across all dimensions, from internal employees, partner organizations, business partners, and construction workers to communities and the environment, including customers involved in the company's activities.

In 2024, AP Thailand conducted a comprehensive HRDD assessment and found that health and safety issues of employees and subcontract workers remain the highest risk topic, followed by discrimination and workplace equality issues. The company has therefore implemented strict preventive measures such as regular safety training, designing work processes with the consideration of worker health, and consistent safety monitoring at construction sites.

In terms of policy, AP Thailand has established human rights practices that cover all stakeholder groups, including permanent employees, temporary workers, suppliers, and business partners, emphasizing fair compensation and benefits, creating a safe, transparent, and equal work environment, while promoting capability development and equal career growth opportunities. Additionally, all new employees must undergo onboarding training and human rights courses to create proper understanding of roles and responsibilities regarding human rights.

Whistleblowing Channels

Designed to enable employees and stakeholders to report human rights violations with confidence, without being concerned about retaliation, with whistleblower protection in place. The company guarantees protection for all whistleblowers and related witnesses to verify information reported through various channels and manage cases fairly through proper procedures.
